Waste management is now to be an issue of huge importance in the administration of each municipality. In 2009, many municipalities of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, are switching from collection through dumpster mode door to door. This mode of collection introduced new scenarios, including the possibility of monitoring capillary the whole chain of waste: from the producer to the final treatment plant. The project, which took place within the scope of the project, developed as part of the Community Initiative Interreg IIIA-2000/2006 Italy-Slovenia, was used to test the traceability of waste within the context of the City Tavagnacco. The primary objective of the project is to create a system able to trace the entire chain of waste through the use of GSM, GPS and RFID.
